Klain, 61, was working six days per week in Washington DC and returning home every Sunday to Indiana to visit his mother who had been sick.
Klain’s dedication to his mother is also evident in the other ways he has shown it. For example, he waited until after her annual visit in December to put up his Christmas tree and he missed his mother’s Passover Seder due to pandemic in 2020. Sources claim that Ron Klain has informed his staff of his departure from the White House since November 2022. Klain played a major role in helping Joe Biden to achieve legislative success, such as with the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Program, and the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Klain’s exit has been described by many commentators as a major loss for Biden, the country and himself. Finding a replacement may prove difficult. Jeff Zients is reported to be in line to replace Klain. Zients was the former White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator. Matt Gaetz, a representative from Florida, has said that Klain’s resignation is a sign the Democrats are ready for a change after Biden.

Ron Klain has joined O’Melveny as the leader of its crisis management and strategic counseling practice. He was previously Chief of Staff to US President Joe Biden from February 2016 until February 2023. Klain will divide his time between Washington, D.C., and New York. He will represent executives and corporate boards from the technology, healthcare and infrastructure industries, as well as finance. He will be a part of the executive committee for the firm. Klain will concentrate his practice on “cutting-edge legal challenges” such as regulation of artificial intelligence, tensions between China and the United States, and sustainable investing.

Ron Klain, according to financial disclosures in 2021, had assets worth $4.4 to $12.22 million, up from $1.4 to $3.55 million in 2009. He earned almost $2 million in 2020 as the general counsel and executive director of Revolution LLC, an investment firm.
This is a substantial increase over his reported salary in 2009 of $1 million. Klain’s financial disclosures reveal that he also earned speaking fees, such as $100,000 from Goldman Sachs in 2018.
